ABOUT

Aaron is a musical-theatre-obsessed fifth grader who pogo-sticks to school, wears a fanny pack everywhere, and has trouble writing legibly or catching a ball. When he is sent to work with Ms. Jimenez, a depressed and increasingly burnt-out occupational therapist, the two initially clash before forming an unlikely bond. Jake Brasch’s How to Draw a Triangle is a funny, tender memory play about emerging queerness, addiction, the wreckage adults carry with them, and the people who take extraordinary risks to help us become ourselves.

Jake Brasch is a playwright, performer, composer and clown.

Their play The Reservoir received Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel nominations and won Best New Play at both the Henry Awards and Suzi Bass Awards. Jake has received the Vineyard Theatre’s Paula Vogel Award, the Kennedy Center’s Paula Vogel Playwriting Award and the inaugural Terrence McNally Recovery Commission, and holds commissions from Manhattan Theatre Club, Denver Center, The Acting Company and EST/Sloan.

MANHATTAN THEATRE CLUB

I directed How to Draw a Triangle for Manhattan Theatre Club’s 2025 Ted Snowdon Reading Series, MTC’s long-running public program for the development of new plays.

The reading took place at New York City Center — Stage I on March 10, 2025.
